Work in a Group

Group Work

A small, closed personal development group experience — a safe and focused environment to explore how you relate to yourself and others in real time.

Overview

The group offers a safe and focused environment to explore how you relate to yourself and others in real time, with the support and feedback of people engaged in the same process. Grounded in Gestalt practice, it emphasises awareness, contact, and experimentation in the present moment, with attention on what unfolds between participants as it happens.

The work is for people navigating life across cultures, expectations, and roles, as well as those wanting to explore identity and relationships — offering a space to examine how you relate and what patterns repeat over time. Sessions are built around dialogue, feedback, and experimentation that make these patterns visible and workable.

Over eight weeks, the group supports the development of initial clarity, a wider range of responses, and a more precise way of communicating and relating, both personally and professionally. This format serves as an introduction to relational group work and may open directions for further exploration beyond the initial cycle.

Purpose

To create a space where participants can:

  • Develop individual awareness and awareness of relational patterns as they emerge
  • Work directly with emotional responses, including those that feel difficult or unclear
  • Test new ways of responding, communicating, and relating
  • Understand how past adaptations show up in current interactions

The continuity of meeting weekly with the same group allows patterns to become visible and workable over time.

Who It Is For

  • English-speaking locals and expats in Moldova
  • Individuals interested in personal development through relational work
  • Professionals in roles involving sustained interaction — leadership, education, therapeutic, or organisational contexts
  • Those considering training in counselling or psychotherapy and wanting direct experience of group process
  • Anyone willing to engage actively, reflect on their experience, and participate in group dialogue

No prior experience with therapy or group work is required.

What to Expect

  • A confidential, facilitated group setting
  • Emphasis on the "here and now" — what is happening in the room between participants
  • Interactive sessions involving dialogue, feedback, and guided experiments
  • Exploration of themes such as identity, boundaries, emotional expression, and interpersonal dynamics
  • Opportunities to give and receive clear observations about how you are experienced by others
  • A balance between individual focus and group process

Sessions are typically active, engaging, and shaped by what participants bring each week.

Approach

Gestalt-Based

The group draws on Gestalt theory, which works with the whole person — including body, emotion, thinking, and imagination. It views individuals as relational beings inseparable from their environment, shaped by and shaping their context.

Key elements include

  • Present-moment awareness
  • Relational contact and feedback
  • Experimentation and exploration
  • Integration of different aspects of experience

Participants often leave with

  • Greater self-awareness
  • Increased clarity about how you relate to others
  • Greater capacity to recognise and regulate emotional responses
  • More flexibility in communication and behaviour
  • A clearer sense of personal patterns and choices
  • A grounded experience of group process, relevant for both personal and professional contexts
